Texas Longhorns football has signed former Brown cornerback Nick Hudson, who aims to make an impact in the SEC after a successful Ivy League career. Hudson recorded 52 tackles and 13 pass breakups during his time at Brown.
While the Texas Longhorns 2026 roster is mostly set, head coach Steve Sarkisian has been busy making some last-minute additions. That continued on Friday when former Brown cornerback Nick Hudson committed to Texas. After a successful stint in the Ivy League, Hudson will be looking to make a name for himself in the SEC.
During his time as a Bruno, Hudson recorded 975 career snaps and made ten starts in four seasons. He showed off his versatility as 198 of those snaps came on special teams. The Houston native finished his Brown career with 52 total tackles and 13 pass breakups. While the newest Longhorn had to battle for playing time, he made the most of his opportunities.
Hudson's best season came in 2024, when he started all ten games and recorded 29 total tackles. The talented cornerback also added 13 pass breakups to his resume and earned national attention. Due to his play, Hudson was named to Phil Steele's Fourth Team All-Ivy. That is one of the many reasons Texas showed interest as soon as Hudson entered the portal.
Over the last week, the Longhorns have been busy reshaping their roster, especially on defense. Their additions include former Michigan State star Darius Snow and three-star recruit Brinley Tita. That trio should provide needed depth on defense as Texas looks to win a national title.
Although Hudson is starting a new chapter in his football career, he will have the opportunity to learn from some of the best coaches in the nation. He also has two years of starting experience, which will be important as he tries to carve out meaningful snaps.
With his roster now mostly set, Sarkisian can focus on preparing his team for what should be a memorable 2026 campaign.
