Camden Heide, a forward for the Texas Longhorns, has entered the transfer portal for the second consecutive year after averaging 5.9 points and shooting 45.4% from three-point range during the 2025-2026 season. Known for his clutch performance in March Madness, he is now seeking a new opportunity to further his basketball career.
For the second straight year, Camden Heide is entering the transferring portal. The veteran forward spent the 2025-2026 campaign with the Texas Longhorns and is now looking for a new opportunity. While his time in Austin was short, Heide made his mark, especially during March Madness.
During his only season in the Forty Acres, Heide averaged 5.9 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 0.7 assists per game. He started 29 games for head coach Sean Miller and was often called upon to defend bigger players. While that caused his defensive metrics to dip, the former four-star recruit accepted every challenge he was given.
From three-point range, Heide was one of the Longhorns' most dangerous weapons. He shot a career high 45.4 percent from beyond the arc after shooting 39.2 percent the year before. Heide's improvement from deep helped him etch his name into Longhorns history. He hit an iconic three-pointer to seal the victory over BYU in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
After beginning his career with Purdue and Texas, the Minnesota native will be looking to join a program that can maximize his skills. The veteran forward has shown he can be a solid depth option who can start when needed. That should appeal to teams in the portal looking to add sharpshooters to their roster.
Since the portal opened, the Longhorns' roster has taken a hit. They have also lost Nic Codie and Simeon Wilcher. While they were valuable pieces, Texas is set to welcome one of the best recruiting classes to campus in just a few months. Last year, Miller also showed that he knows how to identify talent, bringing in Dailyn Swain to help improve the offense.
As Heide continues to weigh his options, he will be a name to watch. He still has one year of eligibility and will be looking to make the most of his last college season.
