With his collegiate debut just a few months away, Longhorns recruit Bo Ogden is making headlines with his play. On Monday, Ogden was named Mr. Basketball in the state of Texas. Each year, the honor recognizes the best varsity high school player in the state. The winner is chosen by coaches and voted on by regional committees.
While leading Westlake High to a 32-7 overall record this past season, Ogden was a human highlight reel. He averaged 22 points and 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting 40-percent from three-point range. As a senior, the future Longhorn was nearly automatic from the free-throw line with an 84 percent shooting percentage.
Ogden's success comes as no surprise after his breakout junior year at St. Michael's Preparatory. The Austin native averaged 14.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. With Ogden playing at an elite level, St. Michaels won the Class 6A TAPPS championship. In the championship game, the talented small forward hit the game-winning shot at the buzzer.
Although Ogden has thrived at the high school level, he has also made a name for himself on the global stage. He won a Gold Medal with USA Basketball at the IBA U18 World Cup in 2024. That was just the start of what has been an unforgettable three-year stretch for Ogden.
When the newest Mr. Basketball winner sets foot on campus, he will be part of a 2026 class that has high expectations. He will be joined by Austin Goosby, Joe Sterling, and Coleman Elkins. That group is ranked sixth in the nation by 247Sports and seventh by On3.
Following Ogden's latest honor, excitement is growing about what his future at Texas will hold. If Ogden meets expectations, the Longhorns will not be an easy team to face as long as he is in the lineup.
