Mariners Game #20 Preview and Discussion: SEA at SDP
Mariners face Padres tonight in Game #20 after tough loss.
The Texas Longhorns women's basketball team has secured a commitment from Isi Etute, a highly ranked player in the 2026 class. Etute, who previously played for the IMG Academy, is known for her impressive scoring and rebounding abilities.
The Lady Longhorns had a reason to celebrate on Wednesday as their 2026 class got a massive boost. Texas announced that Isi Etute had officially committed to the Longhorns. Her decision to join Texas becoming official is a welcome update, as over the last few days, head coach Vic Schaefer has lost a few key pieces to the transfer portal.
In Etute, the Longhorns are getting a player ranked No. 24 in the 2026 class by ESPN. The Luxembourg native burst onto the scene during the 2024 campaign, averaging 18.7 points and 13.4 rebounds per game with the youth national team. After that, Etute transferred to the IMG Academy in Florida, where she continued to impress.
At IMG, Etute made an impact right away, averaging 17.8 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. While she was a human highlight reel, the newest Longhorn shot 52 percent from the field. Regardless of the opponent, the talented power forward found a way to score.
On the global stage, Etute has also made headlines. At the 2026 FIBA Eurobasket qualifiers, she scored 27 points while hauling in 19 rebounds in a single game. That performance helped spark interest from various programs, including the Longhorns. Two years before, she was named one of FIBA's Top 10 standout players at the FIBA U18 Women's EuroBasket tournament.
Now that Etute is officially in the mix, the Longhorns' future looks brighter than ever. Their 2026 class includes five players in the top-50. That list includes Addison Bjorn, Brihanna Crittendon, Aaliyah Spaight, and Amalia Holguin. If that group meets expectations, then the Longhorns will be a very hard team to stop.
Although fans will have to wait a couple of months to see Etute in action, excitement is already building for what her future holds in the Forty Acres.
