Ohio State basketball will be losing its longtime strength and conditioning coach. Quadrian Banks spent nine seasons in Columbus and became a fixture within the Buckeyes athletics department, will be leaving the program this offseason.
Banks worked previously for big schools such as the University of Texas and the University of Mississippi before he joined then-head coach Chris Holtmann's staff at Ohio State. The hire reunited Banks and Holtmann, as the two had previously worked together at Gardner-Webb University from 2011 to 2013. Upon his arrival, Holtmann had praised Banks as an "elite strength coach" with a proven track record of developing athletes at the highest levels of competition.
During his time with the Buckeyes, Banks earned professional recognition for his contributions to the program's physical development initiatives. In May 2020, the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) named Banks a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach, one of the highest honors in his field. This distinction highlighted his commitment to the craft and his impact on student-athlete performance throughout his tenure.
While the specific reasons for his departure have not yet been disclosed, his exit closes a nine-year chapter that played a foundational role in the physical preparation of Ohio State basketball players.
The University has yet to announce a successor to the men's strength and training program.
