The Seattle Seahawks are seeking a running back after losing Kenneth Walker III and with Zach Charbonnet injured. They may target Notre Dame's Jadarian Price in the 2026 NFL draft, where they have historically drafted only three running backs in the first round.
The Seattle Seahawks are in need of help at the running back position. They lost Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker III to the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency, and primary backup Zach Charbonnet will begin the year on the bench as he recovers from a torn ACL injury. Seattle did sign Emanuel Wilson to a one-year deal, but many consider this to be a depth pick. The Seahawks need to find a way to replicate the 1,757 yards and 17 touchdowns Walker and Charbonnet produced in 2025.

It took 17 years before the Seahawks took another running back in the first round, but their patience paid off. Shaun Alexander is a titan in Seattle sports lore, and to this day, remains the only NFL MVP in Seahawks history. Alexander joined the legendary Steve Largent by having 100 touchdowns as well, and of course, his 9,429 rushing yards are the most in team history. In 2005, Alexander a then-NFL record with 27 rushing touchdowns as the Seahawks advanced to their first ever Super Bowl. I have long said that Alexander should be a Hall of Famer, and I will keep banging that drum for as long as it takes.
One of the most divisive first round picks in recent memory for the Seahawks. In 2017, the Seahawks could not run the ball whatsoever. They only finished with one rushing touchdown by a running back. Seattle immediately attempted to solve this issue by selecting Rashaad Penny in the first round, which drew backlash from fans who believed he could have been drafted later on. Unfortunately, Penny never truly panned out. Injuries derailed any momentum he had going, like in 2021 when he did rush for 749 yards and six scores. Sadly, his time in Seattle ended when a broke fibula in Week 5 cut short what looked like was going to finally be his breakout season.
