Evans was good to go for the series finale at Georgia and got the start. Not only was it the shortest start of the season for the sophomore right-hander — which was by design — but he struggled with command and got knocked around.
He gave up four runs on as many hits in just 1⅔ innings. Evans threw 56 pitches and just 26 of them went for strikes.
The talking point coming into the series with Georgia was that the offense was going to have to play well if the Tigers were going to win at least one game against the Bulldogs at Foley Field.
Led by sophomore catcher Cade Arrambide, LSU's offense showed it can hit with the best teams in the league against great pitching. LSU chased both of Georgia's two best starters early in the first two games.
