LSU baseball lost to Ole Miss 6-3 in the series opener after defensive errors allowed three late runs. The Tigers aim to even the series in Saturday's game with William Schmidt starting on the mound.
LSU baseball vs Ole Miss game score – Live updates from SEC series
Winning on the road is never easy. But this season's LSU baseball team makes it even harder on itself.
The Tigers entered the eighth inning of the series opener with Ole Miss tied at 3 Friday night. LSU proceeded to make some defensive blunders, allowing the Rebels to plate three runs, en route to falling, 6-3.
Jay Johnson and LSU (22-13, 6-7 SEC) will look to even up the series Saturday afternoon at Swayze Field. Arguably LSU's best starter this season, sophomore William Schmidt, will take the bump for the Tigers as Ole Miss (24-11, 6-7) will counter with Cade Townsend.
LSU is going to need to hit better with runners in scoring position to take game two against the Rebels. The Tigers were 2 for 11 in that department in the series opener.
