Men's college basketball buzz: State of blueblood rebuilds
Men's college basketball bluebloods like Kansas and Kentucky face major rebuilds this offseason.
Bo Bordelon is vying for the starting left guard position on the LSU football team for the 2026 season. The fifth-year senior has experience across the offensive line and tight end, showcasing versatility in his play.
Bo Bordelon is competing for a starting spot at left guard for LSU football. The fifth-year senior played across the offensive line over his four years in Baton Rouge, even getting some time at tight end.
"I played guard for two years and then when they got in they liked me at tackle at first so they bumped me to right tackle and I was doing pretty well there," Bordelon said. "Then they said they wanted to make a change and move me inside to guard and I think I've done pretty well."
Under former head coach Brian Kelly, Bordelon became a Swiss army knife. In 2024, he saw a career-high 78 snaps. 46 came at guard and 24 came at tight end as he would often come on as an extra blocker on run plays.
Borderlon started at right guard in the 2024 Texas Bowl, bouncing between both sides throughout the contest. The feeling he got solidified his confidence on the interior.
"I think guard is kind of where I feel the most comfortable," Borderlon said. "I can play tackle if I want to I can play whatever they need me to. I would play center if they want me to."
During the first season of the Lane Kiffin era, Borderlon has a fair shot to claim the starting role at left guard. One of the few position battles along the offensive line, left guard is between Borderlon and sophomore Devin Harper.
"I try to do what they need me to do and right now they need me a left guard, so that's where I want to play," Borderlon said.
Bordelon's Dad, Ben Bordelon, was a standout offensive lineman for LSU in the 1990s. Bo's younger brother, Brett, is set to provide depth on the OL in 2026.
