As Real Madrid prepare for another defining European night in Munich, Lucas VĂĄzquez has offered his belief.
Speaking to RNE, VĂĄzquez framed the current squad within the broader context of Real Madridâs history. Success, he suggests, comes in cyclesâbut belief remains constant.
âI think that in football, at Real Madrid, there are always different phases. I think we had some incredible years where we had tremendous success, I think we had some fantastic players, and I think that today at Real Madrid, in the squad, there are also great players, great leaders, and I think perhaps we also need to be a little patient so that those players can adapt to that leadership and step up because I believe the Real Madrid squad is capable of anything.â
Looking back at the first leg at the Santiago Bernabéu, Våzquez made it clear that the margin between the two sides is razor-thin.
âI think it was clear in the first leg at the BernabĂ©u, wasnât it? I think Bayern played a fantastic match, but nobody would have been surprised if the game had ended 2-2 . So I think Madrid will have many opportunities ; they have to, of course, do things very well, they have to try to convert the chances they get, and from there, withstand a great Bayern Munich side that also plays spectacular matches at home and has been demonstrating throughout the season that they are a very reliable team, of course, but Madrid is always Madrid .â
If there is one thread tying together every voice coming out of the club this week, it is belief.
Florentino PĂ©rezâs confidence has filtered down through the squad, and VĂĄzquez admits it carries real weight inside the dressing room.
âWell, I think it motivates you, of course, because when someone as big as Florentino says those words, you have to listen to him , of course. I think thatâs the atmosphere or belief that always exists at the club , that you can always win until the very end, and I think tomorrow theyâre going to have a lot of chances.â
Lucas VĂĄzquez stated that the current squad has great players and leaders, and emphasized the need for patience as they adapt and step up.
He believes that success at Real Madrid comes in cycles, highlighting that the club has experienced incredible years and still possesses the potential for greatness.
The match in Munich is considered defining for Real Madrid, as they aim to continue their legacy in European competitions.
