Luis Figo weighs in on the state of Real Madrid dressing room â âShouldnât happen in a team environmentâ
Real Madrid have gone into a state of complete internal collapse, and the setback could not have come at a worse point in time.
The potentially title-deciding El Clasicois just on the horizon, but the Real Madrid dressing room now appears to have gone into a complete meltdown with players getting into feud and serious tensions rising around the managerial situation.
A defeat on Sunday will seal La Liga in Barcelonaâs favour, and do it in a game directly against Real Madrid. Even if the title race is just a formality, to lose the title on the soil of the Spotify Camp Nou would be a new low for the club.
Figoâs thoughts
Real Madrid legend Luis Figo was asked to comment on the recent fight between Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni in a recent interview, and he made his stance firm that he did not support such physical altercations.
âThey both have too much energy. Itâs not normal; this shouldnât happen in a team environment. But it wonât be the first or the last time it happens.â
**âFrustration leads to an abnormal attitude. I canât say anything more; Real Madrid has already issued a statement,â**he added.
Figo was then asked if Jose Mourinho was the right candidate to take Real Madrid forward in their project, and he shared his honest view on why he felt it was not the ideal appointment.
âMourinho is a friend of mine, and I wish him all the best. If his happiness lies in coaching Real Madrid, then so be it,â he began.

â[But] I didnât know Mourinho was known for his tough approach. Iâve had him as a translator, as an assistant, and as a head coach. I donât think Real Madrid needs a tough coach,â he added.
Elaborating on what he meant by a âtoughâ manager, Mourinho said,
âIâm not an advocate of the term âtoughâ. You have to manage 25 egos, you have to understand football, and you have to manage egos to convince the players to pull in the same direction.â
**âAt Real Madrid, you need a coach with management skills and common sense,â**he added.
Finally, Figo spoke on the upcoming El Clasico and what he thought the significance of the game was.
â[La Liga] is already decided. But anything can happen in the game. The motivation will not be the same, but Madrid are playing for their image and dignity. But to win they will need a triple Duracell battery.â
**âThey are two of the biggest clubs in the world, they have the best players, itâs also special for the fans, two great cities and the rivalry goes beyond football,â**he added.
