According to The Athletic, Doncic has made it clear inside the Lakers organisation that he wants Reaves to remain on the roster.
That stance matters because any serious move for Giannis Antetokounmpo would require significant assets, and Reaves would be one of the Lakers’ most valuable trade pieces.

The report states that Doncic would not want the 27-year-old American included in a potential package for the Milwaukee Bucks superstar.
Reaves gave the Lakers consistent production during the regular season. According to SofaScore, he averaged 23.3 points per game, making him their second-best scoring option.
His value is not limited to scoring either. Reaves can handle the ball, attack late-clock situations and play comfortably alongside a dominant creator.
That explains why Doncic may see him as more than a trade chip.
There is still a financial issue coming. Reaves’ contract runs until June 2027, and The Athletic reports he could command $40 million per year in free agency.
That creates pressure for the Lakers, but it also reflects his rise. Reaves is no longer just a useful role player.
Giannis would transform any roster, and the Lakers would be expected to listen if a real opportunity emerged.
Still, Doncic’s message is clear. If Los Angeles wants to build around him, keeping Reaves appears to be part of that plan.
