After a chaotic 3-3 draw against Everton, Manchester City have once again put the title race back into Arsenal’s hands. Now, they host Brentford on Saturday afternoon, before their title rivals play West Ham, and must take three points to keep the pressure on.
They have received a boost, as manager Pep Guardiola confirmed that defender Josko Gvardiol was back in training and could feature, having been sidelined since January with a broken leg.
“He’s good, his training has been good,” Guardiola said. “He’s been out for many months. Last season he was very a important player for us, playing all the games but at one point the body says enough is enough.
“But we’re happy he’s back, hopefully he can help us in the last part of the season and have a good world cup with Croatia and next season we can have him again at his best because he’s an important player, central defender, full-back, he can play different roles, and he’s so fast, so quick,” he continued. “So it’s just really good to have him back like Ruben [] as well.”
Pep Guardiola did not provide specific details on Rodri's injury status ahead of the Brentford match.

The Man City manager quickly shut down questions about the defender receiving a new contract, saying, he had “no info” on the situation, but added: I would love Josko to stay here. It’s not easy to find a player like him, so hopefully he stays.”
As for Rodri, who has struggled with injuries all season and was not in the squad for the Everton tie, the manager said the call would be a late one as to whether or not he would be fit to feature.
“We’ll see, we’ll see this afternoon,” Guardiola admitted. “We have survived without him for many many months. He still doesn’t feel completely comfortable. He will be ready and fit and come back, we will see this afternoon or tomorrow.”
