Opposing manager - Oliver Glasner

Glasner played professionally as a defender for 19 years, making over 500 appearances for Austrian club, Ried.

Three years after his retirement he coached the same side for one season before taking over at German side Wolfsburg in 2019.

There he managed to qualify for the Champions League by finishing fourth in the 2020-21 Bundesliga season. Since then they have not recorded a higher finishing position.

The Austrian remained in Germany but changed to Eintracht, where his talents where displayed in the 2021/22 Europa League, reaching the final before beating Rangers 5-4 on penalties. This earned the club Champions League qualification for the first time in their history.

Glasner was appointed Crystal Palace head coach in February 2024.

The 51-year-old Austrian has since guided Palace to back-to-back record points totals in the Premier League and led them to a first major trophy as they claimed a 1-0 victory over the Blues to lift the trophy at Wembley last season.

That led to a first ever appearance in a major European competition, while they also beat league winners Liverpool to win the Community Shield.

Previous meeting

Goals from Erling Haaland (two) and Phil Foden helped City to a 3-0 victory at Selhurst Park as we moved within two points of Arsenal at the league summit.

In what proved a tough and demanding test, a towering 41st minute header from Haaland had broken the first half deadlock.

Palace proved dangerous opponents and twice hit the City woodwork through Yeremy Pino and Adam Wharton.

But Pep Guardiola’s side were not to be denied and a brilliant 69th minute strike from Foden stretched the advantage.

An 88th minute Haaland penalty - awarded after substitute Savinho had been brought down - then sealed the deal.

It was our fourth straight league win and put us back within touching distance of the leaders with the title race really ramping up.

Last time out

City piled the pressure on the Gunners in the Premier League title race after a 3-0 win over Brentford.

Pep Guardiola’s Blues moved to within two points of the Gunners with three games remaining now for both teams.

Second half goals from Jeremy Doku, Erling Haaland and substitute Omar Marmoush ensured the vital victory at the Etihad.
