“Yes, you do pick up on things like that, but it doesn’t influence me,” he said. “I’m concentrating on the goals that are within my control. Nothing else interests me right now.”
The response indicates his measured approach, even as the Germany international’s market value continues to rise. Initially, reports stated that his market value was around €60 million, but recent information suggested that number has gone up to €65 million.
Such a price tag would make Brown the joint most expensive left-back ever, alongside Chelsea’s Spain international Marc Cucurella. In response, Brown addressed those figures with similar composure.
“It’s a truly staggering sum. But frankly speaking, I’m not giving numbers like that, or the possibility of a transfer this summer, a second thought,” he added.
“My focus is entirely on Eintracht and our goal of qualifying for Europe. And after that, I would really love to be part of the World Cup squad. Then, I’ll see what happens in the summer. It’s hard to make plans in football, which is why I don’t dwell on it.”
Even though the player dismisses the notion of a future transfer, the bigger picture suggests a potential summer move is on the cards, with Eintracht Frankfurt’s season having been inconsistent, but Brown’s performances consistently excellent.
From a tactical perspective, the Germany international’s profile is a perfect fit for systems at the highest level, comfortable playing high up the pitch, inverting into central areas to create overloads in midfield, and intelligent and disciplined to recover defensively during transition.
For Manchester City, the appeal of such a dynamic player is clear as they target full-backs who are competent to help with build-up while maintaining defensive stability.
Even though the player downplays rumours, the way the market dynamics operate suggests a move elsewhere this summer is likely, despite his immediate target being to earn a spot in Germany’s World Cup squad.
