The 18-year-old forward has emerged as the latest exciting prospect in the Brazilian Serie A, drawing comparisons to fellow academy graduates who have made the leap to the Premier League and across European football.
City’s recruitment team, bolstered by the transition toward the Hugo Viana era, has seemingly identified Vinicius as a key profile to strengthen the club and wider City Football Group’s (CFG) long-term offensive options.
Strategic acquisitions from South America have become a cornerstone of the City Group’s success, securing elite talent before their market value skyrockets. According to a new report from Globo Esporte, Manchester City have submitted an offer of around £17.4 million for the 18-year-old Palmeiras forward , with the intention being to place him at sister club Girona.
Sport Witness recently reported that the Brazilian club would likely demand between £13.1 million and £21.8 million for Heittor Vinicius, meaning the offer from the Etihad Stadium will almost certainly test officials at Palmeiras.
Should a bid be accepted, Vinicius would follow a pathway established by Savinho, utilising Girona as a high-level proving ground in La Liga. The Catalan side, currently managed by Míchel offers the perfect tactical environment for a young Brazilian to adapt to the rigours of European football.
Placement at Girona also allows the City Football Group to monitor the teenager’s progression closely while providing the player with guaranteed minutes in a top-five European league.
That is the situation currently being experienced by Vitor Reis, who joined City from Palmeiras midway through the previous European campaign, joining Girona for the 2025/26 season and starring in La Liga as a Premier League return remains eyed for next season.
Why Vitor Reis already looks like a Pep Guardiola centre-back
Negotiations are still expected to progress for Heittor Vinicius, with Manchester City eager to integrate the youngster into plans for the 2026/27 campaign, albeit elsewhere within the CFG portfolio.
While Palmeiras are historically tough negotiators, the latest reported package is likely to sit comfortably within their expected valuation range. If finalised, a move could signal another masterstroke in Manchester City’s global talent acquisition.
