Manchester United blow as Manchester City now in pole position to sign Elliot Anderson
Manchester City are in pole position to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder and Manchester United target Elliot Anderson this summer, according to Sky Sports. Man United want to strengthen in the middle of the park at the Old Trafford club and the England international has been identified as a top target. However, it appears he is destined for the Etihad Stadium club and the Red Devils will have to start looking at their other targets in the position before it gets too late. Anderson is currently focussed on getting Forest to safety as they remain in the relegation battle heading into the final five league fixtures of the season.
Man United will continue monitoring the situation as Man City are yet to wrap up any deal despite emerging as favourites. The Red Devils have also been recently linked with interest in West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes, and more players are expected to emerge on their radar in the coming weeks. They are preparing for life without having announced that the Brazilian is leaving the Theatre of Dreams at the end of the season.
Manchester City is in pole position to sign Elliot Anderson due to their strong interest and current negotiations, while Manchester United is still assessing their options.
After missing out on Elliot Anderson, Manchester United plans to explore other midfield targets, including Mateus Fernandes from West Ham United.
Elliot Anderson's focus remains on helping Nottingham Forest avoid relegation as they face crucial matches in the final five league fixtures of the season.

Man United are also considering selling Uruguay international midfielder Manuel Ugarte with the Red Devils co-owner Jim Ratcliffe said to be of the view that the 25-year-old should be sold. The businessman watched Ugarte in the defeat against Leeds United last Monday from the Old Trafford directors’ box and was not impressed with his performances from the look of things. Man United are looking to sign two midfielders and while they will not be short of quality options, they need to get the right and perfect players as they dream of challenging for major trophies again.
Anderson fits the bill but is leaning towards a move to Man City and the Red Devils will not give up on him if they believe a deal is still possible.
