Manchester United eye Barcelona homegrown defender; club could sell for offers above €50m
FC Barcelona are preparing for a crucial summer transfer window, with player sales expected to play a central role in shaping next season’s squad.
The Catalans have delayed major decisions while focusing on securing the league title, but once that objective is achieved, movement in the market is set to accelerate.
Barcelona’s priorities in terms of signings are already defined, but generating income is essential to make those plans viable.
As a result, the club has identified several potential departures, aiming to balance financial needs without significantly weakening the squad.
Now, according to SPORT, one of the names under consideration to be sold is Alejandro Balde. Manchester United are interested in the left-back and could explore a move if the player is open to it.
Barcelona, for their part, would not block a major offer, although the La Masia graduate has, so far, shown no desire to leave.
Balde’s reduced role this season and his contract, which runs until 2028, have placed him under scrutiny.
Barça are also exploring options at left-back and are keen to retain Joao Cancelo, who has established himself as a starter in that position.

The Blaugrana believe a major sale, potentially exceeding €50 million, could significantly support their transfer strategy.
However, they will not force Balde out and have entrusted his agent, Jorge Mendes, with managing any potential negotiations.
Mendes is also expected to play a role in the situation of Marc Casado, who has had limited involvement under Hansi Flick this season. Barcelona are open to selling him, having previously considered his departure last year.
A situation similar to that of Balde applies to Jules Kounde as well. The defender remains an important player under Flick and recently renewed his contract until 2030. However, the club would consider an exceptional offer if one arrives.
Barcelona are aware that income is essential, even if they return to La Liga’s 1:1 salary rule. Their transfer ambitions include signing a top centre-back, with Alessandro Bastoni as a leading target, and a high-profile striker, with Julian Alvarez being a key objective.
If planned sales do not materialise, they may need to consider more sensitive departures. One such case is Raphinha, a key figure in recent seasons who has offers from Saudi Arabia.
