Manchester United have earmarked Aston Villa attacker Morgan Rogers as Bruno Fernandes’ long-term successor as a No 10, according to the Telegraph. Man United want the Portuguese midfielder to stay but it is not a given and the Red Devils will look to lure Rogers away from the Villa Park club. They will be powerless to stop Fernandes from leaving the Old Trafford club this summer if any of his suitors meet his €65 million release clause and he is willing to leave.

His release clause is active until the first half of July, but qualifying for next season’s Champions League and giving him assurances over their ambitions will improve their chances of keeping him. The 31-year-old has a contract with the Red Devils until the end of next season but there is an option to extend it by another year until June 2028. His Man United future remains shrouded in uncertainty, but a move for Rogers could be on the cards even if Fernandes signs a new deal. The Red Devils are also looking to strengthen on the left this summer, and the Villa star also plays there.
