City face Arsenal in a title deciding fixture at the Etihad Stadium next Sunday in what is arguably the most anticipated 90 minutes of football in the English top-flight in many, many years.
In conversation with Sky Sports after City’s convincing 3-0 win over Chelsea, Guehi kept his feet on the ground and insisted his side have got their eyes on the upcoming battle with Arsenal back in Manchester.
“We just want to improve, we just want to get better,” the 25-year-old defender said. “Keep our feet on the ground, recover, focus on the next one. Thanks to God today for helping us.”
An even game in the first-half saw Manchester City enter the interval level with a resilient Chelsea who threatened on the counter many a time and had a goal from defender Marc Cucurella ruled out for offside.
However, City upped a few gears when they came out for the second-half and made a giant statement as they swept Liam Rosenior‘s men apart in a ruthless performance between 45 and 90 minutes to set up a titanic battle next weekend with Arsenal.
Rayan Cherki was Manchester City’s architect-in-chief as the 22-year-old France international took matters into his own hands and provided the goods for O’Reilly and Guehi before Doku won possession from Moises Caicedo close to the Chelsea box and made it three.
