Mardela, defending MPSSAA Class 1A Softball State Champions, are back in the 1A State Semifinals for the fourth consecutive year, as they defeated Patuxent 10-0 at home in the state quarterfinals on Friday.

The Warriors cruised to victory on their home field as they shut out their postseason opponents for the fourth game in a row, dating back to their Bayside Championship victory over North Dorchester earlier this month.
Next up for Mardela, still undefeated this season, will be the state semifinals on May 19 at the Bachman Sports Complex, where they will face South Carroll.

The Stephen Decatur Seahawks, Bayside Conference Champions this season, defeated Towson 11-1 at home on Friday in the Class 3A State Quarterfinals on Friday to advance to the state semifinals for the third time in four years.
Still undefeated this season, Decatur pitchers Caleb Loring, Rij Braciszewski and Kyle Springle combined to hold the visiting Towson Generals to just one run on the day. Decatur got on the board in the first inning courtesy of an RBI single by Johnny Hobgood and added two more runs when Brandon Nadeua hit a single to bring two more runners home.
Decatur will advance to face the winner of the Chesapeake-Damascus game, with the exact date and location TBA.
Mardela's baseball team was also competing in the Class 1A State Quarterfinals on Friday but lost 9-3 on the road to Patuxent, ending its season.
