Hunt, 52, was arrested earlier this week and charged with domestic violence after an alleged incident in Australia. Hunt, according to news outlets, is charged with "stalking or intimidation with intent to cause physical harm" after he allegedly texted a death threat to a female family member.
Hunt's Tuesday arrest put him in jail overnight in Northern Rivers. Hunt also allegedly intimidated a witness, according to police reports. The text message police say Hunt sent to the alleged victim read, "I'm just going to murder you in the end anyway."
But Hunt early Friday in the U.S. posted a video to social media saying he's not being fairly treated in what appears to be an ongoing domestic separation playing out in court. Hunt said the alleged victim has been keeping track of an alleged history of purported messages and incidents that he apparently thinks paint him in a bad light after his arrest.
"Everyone argues. Everyone has issues. But you shouldn't record or take record of your partner when they're angry," Hunt said in the video. "… Yeah, people have made mistakes. I've made a lot of mistakes. No one's perfect. No one's Jesus. What's sad here is, not many people make a record about what's happened. That's why I feel kind of sad about it. A lot of these texts are being used retroactively – they aren't even part of what happened here a couple days ago. They're just being brought up from the past of someone making a tab."
The attorney for Hunt, who has for years publicly professed his born-again Christian lifestyle, said he likely will plead guilty to the charge, according to reports. Hunt is out on bail with a no-contact order for the alleged victim. He is due back in court April 30.
From 2010 to 2018, Hunt went 8-8-1 in the UFC after he rose to combat sports prominence as a kickboxer and in PRIDE. In the UFC, his opponents included former or future heavyweight champions Stipe Miocic, Brock Lesnar, Frank Mir and Fabricio Werdum.
But he remains most notable from his lengthy lawsuits against the UFC after his July 2016 fight against Lesnar, who tested positive for a banned substance. Hunt alleged the UFC knew Lesnar was doping but allowed the fight to proceed anyway, putting him in an elevated level of danger.

In those cases, perhaps now with some added irony, Hunt wanted the courts to recognize that the UFC's history did, in fact, matter when it came to him as an alleged victim. The UFC, it could be surmised, argued that Hunt was using past incidents retroactively against the promotion.
