Marquette will play Missouri at United Center in Chicago

The Marquette men's basketball team will play another nonconference game in Chicago next season.

The Golden Eagles and Missouri are finalizing an agreement to meet Nov. 15 at the United Center, college basketball insider Jon Rothstein reported April 21.

MU played two nonconference games in Chicago last season. The Golden Eagles lost to Indiana on Nov. 9 at the United Center and fell to Oklahoma on Nov. 29 at Credit Union 1 Arena.

MU athletic director Mike Broeker told the Journal Sentinel last year that he likes the idea of scheduling more games in Chicago.

"I would say it’s a couple things," Broeker said in a lengthy Q&A with the Journal Sentinel. "One, we have a massive alumni base and season-ticket base in Chicago. So the opportunity to play there and the response we’ve gotten the last few years when we’ve played down there has been incredible.

"And I think it’s also a way scheduling is going to change with revenue-sharing and the opportunity to create some more value for yourself outside of your own market."

MU and Missouri have played in closed-door scrimmages several times in recent seasons. The Tigers look to have a strong roster next season, with incoming five-star recruit Jason Crowe Jr. and transfer portal acquisitions Jamier Jones (Providence) and Bryson Tiller (Kansas).
