Denver Broncos wide receivers Marvin Mims and Pat Bryant visited Kaiser Elementary School last Friday in partnership with UnitedHealthcare of Colorado to donate athletic shoes to students.
After the event, both receivers were made available to media members, and the team's March trade for Jaylen Waddle was a key topic of discussion.
"He's had a heck of a career in Miami, and I think we're lucky to be with him, especially me, just to be able to learn from him," Mims said of Waddle. "Hopefully he can learn some stuff from me [too], but just to be able to watch him every day throughout, and get the best out of him."
Mims has been very candid about the Waddle trade, previously admitting that the move surprised him and that he was unsure what his own role would be on offense going forward. But Mims has remained extremely professional, and he's emphasized that he'll embrace whatever role the team gives him.
"For me, it's just answering the door when the bell's rung," Mims said. "I feel like I've done that pretty well the past three years. But when I get my opportunities, make the most of it. Be a good teammate, assist the team in however many ways [I can]."
Bryant, who could also lose snaps to Waddle, had a similar positive reaction to the trade:
"We're just weapons for Bo [Nix]," Bryant said, "so as long as we go out there and do our job, we'll have a great season."
Those are mature, team-first responses from Bryant and Mims, and it reflects well on the state of the team's wide receiver. Nix will have plenty of weapons to spread the ball around to in 2026, and Mims and Bryant are eager to contribute when called upon.
