Matt Fitzpatrick is in the form of his life with three wins on the PGA Tour already this season.
After a second-place finish at The Players, Fitzpatrick won the Valspar Championship, the RBC Heritage, and then the Zurich Classic alongside his brother, Alex. Now he eyes a major at the PGA Championship.
It would be the second major of his career after the Englishman won the US Open in 2022. Heās had three major top 10s since then, but has not contended for a victory.

Fitzpatrick is a US Open winner, but that isnāt the event he thinks his game is best suited to. Instead, he believes heās most likely to win a second major at Augusta National.
Speaking before the PGA Championship at Aronimink, he said, āI do feel like the Masters does suit me. I donāt feel like Iāve ever had my best stuff there. I felt like this year I played solid tee-to-green and made zero putts.
āAnd I remember specifically, I think I led putting in 2019 and hit it terribly. So I do feel like I have something there for sure. I just donāt feel like itās necessarily got out yet there. PGA is probably, I would say, maybe a little bit harder for me. I think maybe it depends ā depends on, again, the course setup.
āU.S. Open, obviously, I love. I think The Open, being able to control your ball flight, I feel like I can do that pretty well. I would probably say that the Masters, I feel like, suits me the most. I just donāt feel like Iāve shown that yet. That would be my take on that.ā

If you asked all players that, unless they really werenāt suited to Augusta, then the majority would likely say The Masters. Itās the easy answer to pick the major that comes to the same course every year. All the best players are familiar with the setting and believe they can one day conquer it.
As Fitzpatrick admitted, his record at The Masters is nothing that should instill confidence in him.
Not only has Fitzpatrick never claimed a Green Jacket, heās also never really come close. He has only two top-10 finishes at Augusta National in his career.
He missed the cut on his debut in 2014 as an amateur, but in 2016 he showed some promising signs. He finished in T7 in his first Masters appearance as a pro.
After that, there was nothing but disappointment. He didnāt crack the top 20 again until 2020, when he finished in T14.
The following year, he recorded his second top-10, finishing T10, but a T40 and T18 in his last two appearances at Augusta meant it was a return to his usual form.
If Fitzpatrick thinks heās well-suited to win The Masters, heās got a funny way of showing it.
