NEW YORK โ Max Fried has been placed on the 15-day injured list with a left elbow bone bruise, the Yankees announced on Friday.
Additional imaging will take place on Fried's elbow in a few weeks or when the left-hander is asymptomatic. Fried would not give a specific timeline for a recovery from the injury but was optimistic that it was not the worst-case scenario.
"I'm definitely bummed that I'm going to be missing some time, but overall happy it doesn't look like it's going to be anything more serious," Fried said. "No surgery required or anything like that. Never want to go on the IL and miss games, but also understand that the long-term outlook still looks good."
