Max Holloway is uncertain about a potential fight with Conor McGregor at UFC 329. Although there are discussions about a rematch, nothing has been officially signed yet.
Will Max Holloway be the one to welcome Conor McGregor back to the UFC?
There's been rumblings of a potential rematch between Holloway (27-9 MMA, 23-9 UFC) and McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC), who hasn't competed since 2021 but has posted various videos of himself actively training. The pair fought in 2013 as featherweights when McGregor won by unanimous decision.
Holloway hinted that he's currently gearing toward a fight, but nothing is official.
"I mean, it's just, it sucks because, of course, you don't have nothing signed or whatever," Holloway told UFC on Paramount+. "So training camp looks like a regular training camp without a contract. My head space is still straight. I know when I fight. We kind of know where we want to fight, why we want to fight. So, just getting in the gym, getting there, getting it done. We have history. We fought a very long time ago. I would love to get (McGregor) back.
"With him having all this talk of coming back and everybody talking about how serious he looks like he's training and taking it and really wanting to come back to fight, it's exciting. He looks super hungry. He just did a boxing exhibition not too long ago, so that was pretty cool to see him. I would just like to get one back. I know it's a huge fight. Anything with Conor McGregor is huge, but having history with the dude, being able to get one back would be cool."
The rumor for McGregor's return appears to be for UFC 329 on July 11 during International Fight Week. Holloway will look to rebound from his BMF title loss to Charles Oliveira at UFC 326%20%E2%80%93%20to%20win%20BMF%20title), where he was outgrappled for five rounds.
"Maybe, we'll see what happens," Holloway said of fighting at UFC 329. "I'm seeing all the talk that you guys see. I didn't really hear anything yet, but that wouldn't be a bad time. You're only as good as your last fight, they say, and we're going to get everybody forgetting about that last fight as soon as possible."
