Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy had a monster four games in Colorado, and spoke about what made him successful.
The veteran had 10 hits across four games, batting .588 across the series. He hit four homers during the set—hitting two in both the first and the last games of the series. Muncy credited his success to his mechanics, which he puts plenty of work into.
“I was doing what I wanted to do with my mechanics,” Muncy said. “Like I said the other day, when I’m doing what I want to do, the results have been good. It’s just trying to find the consistency of getting the mechanics to work every single day. You keep putting in the work every day, that’s part of the process. You just got to trust it.
“It was a good weekend.”

Muncy has eight home runs on the season—seven of which have come in April—and leads the team in that regard. His .632 OPS leads all qualified batters on the team, and is second to only Dalton Rushing, who has seven home runs in eight games played.
He has an incredible slash line of .303/.376/.632 through 21 games, and will look to keep his hot streak going as the Dodgers head into their final series of a seven-game road trip.
One of the biggest keys for Muncy’s success is his improvement against left-handed pitching. He has historically struggled against lefties, posting just a .564 OPS against them last season, but has a 1.242 OPS through 19 at-bats against southpaws this season.
That’s not to say he’s struggling against righties, though, as he still has a .930 in the advantageous matchup. Five of his eight homers have come against right-handed pitching.
The third baseman has been one of the best offensive players in baseball this season, posting a plus-9 batting run value already. He ranks in the 97th percentile of MLB in that regard.
While not exactly known for his glove, Muncy has also done a solid job at the hot corner so far this season. He has two outs above average so far this season, which would be his highest total since 2021 if he stays consistent throughout the remainder of the season.
The Dodgers are yet to announce their lineup for their series opener against the San Francisco Giants, but it’s safe to assume he’ll be present in the batting order with the right-handed Landen Roupp on the mound.
LA is one game ahead of the San Diego Padres in the NL West, and will hope to keep their spot at the top throughout their second consecutive divisional matchup on the road.
The first game of the Dodgers’ series against the Giants comes Tuesday at 6:45 p.m. PT.
