McGavock football hires Nicholas Haddock as coach, replacing Frederick Burnette
McGavock has hired Nicholas Haddock as its new TSSAA football coach, MNPS announced on April 7, replacing Frederick Burnette.
McGavock fired Burnette after five seasons. He went 17-35 following his hire in 2021.
Haddock, a McGavock graduate and former defensive lineman, was previously an assistant coach at Kentucky Wesleyan College, where he played collegiately.

Haddock’s roles included coaching defensive lineman, linebackers and serving as run game coordinator. He was responsible for the three largest classes in school history in his role as recruiting coordinator.
“As a kid, you dream of one day leading your high school football program as head coach. To now have the opportunity to live that dream is truly a blessing,” Haddock said in a statement. “I’m grateful for this opportunity and excited to bring winning football back to the red and blue. Let’s work, Raider Nation.”
Haddock is the second hire in two weeks for Metro football programs. Hillsboro recently hired Jamaal Stewart to replace Anthony Brown.
“We are proud to welcome Coach Haddock back home to McGavock. His enthusiasm and energy are contagious, and his love for the school and community is inspiring,” McGavock executive principal Bruce Jackson said. “His football knowledge and calm demeanor combined with that Raider pride will push our student-athletes and the football program to great heights.”
