Memphis basketball coach Penny Hardaway — in hopes of reinforcing a currently thin frontcourt — has picked up FAU big man Maxim Logue, multiple sources told The Commercial Appeal May 12.
Sources requested anonymity since an official announcement has not been made.
The 6-foot-9, 230-pound junior from Lyon, France, was originally destined for North Carolina. But Logue had to reverse course, reportedly due to academic hurdles.
Now, Logue will join the Tigers, who are in need of interior depth. Corneilous Williams (6-9, 220) is presently the only true center on the roster, while William Whorton is the only other true post player.

The former Owl claims the 14th (out of 15) roster spot. Logue is the ninth Division I transfer Hardaway has added this offseason, joining Jayden Reid, Josh Holloway, Brandin "Beebah" Cummings, Luke Almodovar, Tylik "Bully" Weeks, Rihards Vavers, Jerry Deng and Williams. Other newcomers expected to suit up for the team in 2026-27 include incoming freshmen Fred Smith Jr., Cello Jackson Jr., and Parker Pounds. Hardaway will return Julius Thedford and Whorton.
On May 8, Hardaway said he plans to leave the final slot open, "unless we get an opportunity to sign somebody that we didn’t think we’d have an opportunity to."
Logue played only 11 minutes a game for FAU in 2025-26, but made the most of his opportunities. After beginning his collegiate career at Oregon State, Logue averaged 4.8 points (on 67.4% shooting from the field) and 3.1 rebounds in 28 games for the Owls last season. He added 15 blocks and 14 steals.
One of his most productive outings came in a Jan. 11, 2026, win over Memphis in Boca Raton. He scored six points, had seven rebounds and collected three steals in just 13 minutes.
The Tigers open the season Nov. 2 against Iowa State at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
