On Sunday, they designated reliever Luis Garcia for assignment. The DFA means he goes off the 40-man roster, but first he has to clear waivers.
Garcia is a veteran reliever who certainly could get claimed by another team.

Garcia is 39 years old and has struggled so far this season, with a 7.11 ERA in six games.
The native of the Dominican Republic has a career 4.11 ERA in 609 MLB games.
This is his first season with the Mets after pitching for the Dodgers, Nationals and Angels during the 2025 season.
All told, he has pitched in parts of 14 MLB seasons for the Phillies, Angels, Padres, Cardinals, Dodgers, Red Sox, Rangers, Nationals and Mets.
He strikes out 8.4 batters per nine innings in his career, although his rate was down to 5.7 in the early going this season with the Mets.
Garcia is more more than a middle reliever at this point, but he's well traveled and brings experience to a bullpen.
That could lead to him getting claimed off waivers, but the Mets will have to wait and see.
