SYRACUSE 10, LEHIGH VALLEY 4 (BOX)
The newly promoted A.J. Ewing made his presence immediately known, leading off the game with a triple. Nick Morabito would get on base after being hit, and Christian Arroyo would drive in both with a three-run homer, giving Syracuse an early lead. The IronPigs would eventually tie things up in the top of the third and then take the lead in the fourth, but the Mets would tie things up again the bottom of that frame and then go on to take the lead in the fifth, beating-up on Lehigh Valley’s middle relievers for the rest of the game. FREDERICK 6, BROOKLYN 2 (BOX)
This contest was a pretty even affair, with both teams tied 1-1 until the fifth inning, when Noah Hall apparently ran out of gas and was then given an anti-assist by reliever Garrett Stratton. Hall allowed a pair of singles and a walk to make it a 2-1 game, and then Stratton gave up a three-run homer to make it 5-1 Keys. Both teams would score one more run apiece, but the Cyclones were never really in this one. For those wondering, the Keys formerly were a High-A affiliate of the Orioles in the Carolina League from 1989 to 2020. When Minor League Baseball was restructured in 2020/2021, the Orioles chose not to renew their player development contracts with Frederick. The team did not fold, but instead became an MLB Draft League team. In August 2025, the owners of the Aberdeen IronBirds and the Keys, announced their intent to switch the two, and the Orioles signed off on the plan, thus the Keys becoming Baltimore’s High-A affiliate and the IronBirds transitioning to the MLB Draft League.
