The New York Mets have been labeled as the worst team in all of Major League Baseball, and rightfully so. The 12-game losing skid still resides fresh in the minds of the players, and the fans around the world.

But, if you were to look at who is contributing the most on this lackluster squad, the answer is an obvious one. The "Most Valuable Player" on the worst team in the league, according to Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report, is also the highest-paid player in all of baseball, Juan Soto.

Go figure.

Soto has been dealing with a considerable injury this season, and has only suited up for 17 of the team's 32 games thus far. In that time, he made an impact that overreaches much of his teammates contributions and has made him look like a diamond in the rough.

With a stat line that reads a .344 batting average, Soto's OPS is a staggering 1.001. His On-base percentage is the highlight here, as the notorious walk-machine is back at it again with taking 11 bases on balls so far.

For the rest of this season, the Mets are going to have to try and pull out all the stops to try and get back into the playoff hunt. They currently sit at the bottom of the National League East, at 11-21, and are the last place team in all of baseball.

Soto can help by continuing this pace, but he cannot do it all by himself. He gets to provide good defense for nine innings and gets, at most, five at-bats. Pitching is something that he unfortunately cannot do, and that is where the Mets focus should be for the rest of the way.
