The New York Mets are in the middle of a six-game losing streak, and sit at the bottom of the NL East with a 7-10 record, a half-game back of the Washington Nationals.
Things are not going well for a multitude of reasons, including Juan Soto being on the injured list due to a calf issue, and the lineup going through a major rut.
As ESPN's Alden Gonzalez noted after the Mets' Monday night loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, they've scored just nine runs in this six-game losing streak, which, compared to the Minnesota Twins' total over their last six games, is a brutal comparison.
"The Mets were shut out for the second straight game and have now lost each of their last six," Gonzalez writes. "In those six games, they've scored a combined nine runs. The Minnesota Twins scored 43 in that same stretch."
The Mets' offense this season overall has put up 62 total runs, which is the worst in the NL East, and compared to the Twins, a team that many viewed as one of the worst in baseball coming into the year, has put up 92 runs this season.

In just the last week's worth of games, the Twins offense has put up 42 runs overall compared to the Mets' putrid nine-run total. That's a difference of 33 runs in the Twins' favor.
Other than Luis Robert Jr. and Francisco Alvarez, the Mets offense has been struggling a lot this season. Jared Young, Soto, Robert, and Alvarez are the only players with an OPS above .800, let alone above .700, or even a .640 OPS.
This losing streak for the Mets and their brutal run totals are obvious issues. But, when compared to the Twins, who just scored 13 runs against the Boston Red Sox and ace Garrett Crochet on Monday, this feat looks a whole lot worse.
