According to right-hander Luis Garcia's MLB transactions log, the NL East club released him on Wednesday afternoon.
The 14-year Major League veteran will become a free agent. Garcia made his Major League debut with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2013, and he's spent time with nine different clubs throughout his career.
During the offseason, the Mets signed Garcia to a one-year, $1.75 million contract, but things didn't work out as either party had hoped.
He allowed five earned runs and 11 hits in just 6.1 innings after a strong final 20 games of the 2025 season with the Los Angeles Angels.

There's likely an organization willing to give Garcia another chance, whether at the big league level or in the minors. His work with the Mets was far too small a sample size to make the determination that he just doesn't have it anymore.
Garcia has never earned an All-Star selection and typically pitches in the later innings of games, with career saves in 609 appearances.
