Sean Tatum, a 6-foot-4, 320-pound offensive lineman from John Carroll High School, has committed to the Miami Hurricanes over offers from Florida, Tennessee, and Auburn. His decision was influenced by Miami's offensive line coach Alex Mirabal and the consistent recruitment since his freshman year.
The Miami Hurricanes are well on their way to putting together an historic class this cycle.
Sean Tatum announced on April 9 that is heading to Miami. The 6-foot-4, 320-pound interior offensive lineman from John Carroll High School in Fort Pierce named the Hurricanes over Florida, Tennessee, and Auburn.
"Honestly, it was (offensive line coach Alex) Mirabal and the whole staff," Tatum said. "They offered me when I was a freshman and have been recruiting me ever since. They never slowed down."
Tatum was set for official visits to the above listed schools in the coming weeks, but confirmed with USA TODAY's Florida Network that he will not be taking any more visits and has shut down his recruitment. Tatum says a big part of that decision is Mirabal's pedigree as an elite talent developer. Mirabal's players are mainstays on award watch lists and NFL draft big boards.

"That was very important," Tatum said. "He had a resume down there at Oregon and everywhere else, but now he has this whole new resume in Miami. He's shown everybody why he's the best coach in America. And why would I not want to get developed by the best offensive line coach in America?"
Miami has used last year's historic run to the national championship to piece together one of the most impressive 'Cane classes in recent memory before mid-April. Tatum is ranked as a composite 4-star and the No. 21 overall player in Florida and No. 10 IOL in the nation, according to 247Sports.
Tatum is the fifth 4-star or higher to pledge to Mario Cristobal so far this cycle. Seven of their eight commits hail from the Sunshine State, including 5-star receiver Nick Lennear (Carol City) along with 4-stars Jayln Jones (McArthur DB), TE/EDGE Demarcus Deroche (Cardinal Gibbons), along with WR Ah'mari Stevens (Chaminade-Madonna).
"Of course that run mattered a lot," Tatum said. "They barely got into the playoffs, then almost won the natty. That right there showed you that they belong."

Tatum says he the thing he is most excited for in Coral Gables is the chance to hone his craft against high-end talent.
"I'm honestly just looking forward to just playing ball," he said. "Here in Fort Pierce there's not a long of great competition like there is everywhere else. So now you're going against people that are bigger than you, better than you, stronger than you and I'm just ready to get a lot better. And the development â man not everyone is going to play as a freshman, so like if you go against the best defense in the country, by the time you start playing you're going to be playing like one of the best offenses in the country."
