Miami GP Fan Slams Event After Pregnant Woman Left Unable to Watch Race Despite Paying High Ticket Price

Motorsport events, such as Formula One, often go fully booked on race weekends as fans look forward to experiencing the thrill of Grand Prix racing. However, that could get in the way of those who just want to sit back and savor the race.

After all, not every fan in the stands shares the same energy, as age, physical condition, and personal preference mean that what excites one person can frustrate another.

Something similar happened during the Miami Grand Prix weekend, when F1 fans, who traveled from the UK for the race, found their views blocked during the sprint race, despite paying a high ticket price.

One of them expressed their ordeal on Instagram, asking F1 and the Miami GP organizers if they could help. Despite having a seat for the race, the experience left them deeply disappointed.

The Pregnant Woman Was Unable to Stand for Long

As highlighted in the Instagram reel, the fan from the UK remained seated during the Miami GP sprint race, but when the cars passed by, others around them stood up to watch, disregarding the seated audience.

The fan highlighted how those who stood up in front of them blocked their views entirely, turning a fun experience into a frustrating one. As the cars zipped by, all that the fan was able to do was hear them.

Of course, the fan could have stood up with the crowd every time the F1 cars sped by, but the point they make is that not everyone can stand for long, such as the pregnant woman with them, who ended up not watching the race.

The fan went on to compare the Miami GP with F1 races hosted in Europe, revealing they had not experienced anything like what they went through at the Miami International Autodrome.

The fan emphasized that nobody should go through such an experience, hoping that the organizers would do something to prevent people from blocking others. The Instagram post read:

"Flew from the UK for the Miami GP and paid for seats we couldn’t actually use. Everyone stood the whole race, so we had zero visibility.

"We’ve been to other races like Spanish Grand Prix and Emilia Romagna Grand Prix and never experienced anything like this.

"One of us is pregnant and physically couldn’t stand for long periods just to try and see.

"Surely this isn’t the experience fans should have.

"Just hoping this can be made right.

"@f1 / @f1mia can you help?"

Hopefully, the Miami GP organizers take note of this incident and perhaps make arrangements to ensure seated fans' views are not blocked by those who stand.

Miami GP Rescheduled Due to Threat of Thunderstorm

Guessing Headlights reported how a Florida law pushed F1 and its governing body, the FIA, to reschedule the event. The race was to take place on May 3, 4 p.m. Eastern Time. But with rain on the radar, the event was rescheduled to take place on the same day at 1 p.m.

This was done according to the weather forecast, which suggested rain and thunderstorms mid-afternoon. An earlier race would mean F1 could avoid heavy rain, though nothing is guaranteed when Florida's weather is involved.

Florida laws require sports events to pause when the sound of thunder is heard. A resumption is only allowed after 30 minutes have passed since the most recent clap of thunder or lightning strike.

With the previous schedule, the race was to begin at 4 p.m. and end by around 6 p.m. However, a pause due to a thunderstorm could have extended the event beyond sunset, and a lack of natural light could have caused other complications.
