Miami Heat’s season came to an abrupt end earlier this year after a dramatic 127-126 play-in defeat to the Charlotte Hornets.
That game was overshadowed by controversy, as Bam Adebayo was forced to leave the court injured after an incident involving LaMelo Ball.
His absence proved decisive, as Erik Spoelstra’s side fought hard, but struggled to close out the contest without their star player, underlining just how vital Adebayo is to the team.

Pat Riley made his stance on ‘Bam’ clear during an end-of-season press conference this Monday, emphasising his desire to build the franchise around the centre.
The 81-year-old president spoke openly about Adebayo’s importance, leaving no doubt that he sees him as a cornerstone for Miami’s future plans.
“I’m not saying that something would happen, but I want to build this around Bam. I think Micky wants the same thing, and Nick, and Andy, and all of us want to,” the Miami Heat boss stated.
Pat Riley made a bold and humorous remark about potentially trading Bam Adebayo following the Heat's playoff exit.

Riley then drew laughter when he weighed in on potential trade scenarios that would change his mind, delivering a light-hearted response that highlighted just how highly he rates the player.
“So I’m just going to give you a flat out: no, I wouldn’t trade Adebayo. Unless somebody gave me eight picks and Wembanyama,” he concluded.
Beyond that moment, Riley also addressed his own future with the franchise.
He confirmed that retirement is not on his mind, signalling his continued involvement in shaping the team’s direction.
When questioned about Jimmy Butler’s trade, Riley also pointed to signs of progress, noting that Miami secured 43 wins this season compared to 37 in the previous campaign.
