UFC Freedom 250 is now exactly a month away, and it is already one of the most remarkable events in combat sports history.
The show will form part of the celebrations for 250 years of American Independence, with the undisputed lightweight belt and interim heavyweight belt both on the line.
That patriotic backdrop has added pressure, and former NFL star Michael Irvin is worried about how the American fighters will represent their country.

Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, the Dallas Cowboys legend and Hall of Fame wide receiver questioned which home fighter will deliver on such a symbolic night.
âI want to know what American fighter is going to win at the White House. Iâm a little worried about that,â he said.
Irvin also added: âThatâs why I wanted Jon [Jones] in this.â
Many fans believe Alex Pereira against Jones would have elevated the card further, especially if âBonesâ had beaten the Brazilian star on American soil.
That would have given the occasion a clearer national sporting moment, but the UFC has moved forward with a different plan.
At least two Americans will win, because Josh Hokit faces Derrick Lewis and Bo Nickal meets Kyle Daukaus in all-American bouts.
Elsewhere, the picture is more complicated. Justin Gaethje and Michael Chandler are considered underdogs against Ilia Topuria and Mauricio Ruffy respectively.
Sean OâMalley and Steve Garcia also face difficult tests against Aiemann Zahabi and Diego Lopes, leaving Irvinâs concern understandable before a historic UFC night.
