Michigan basketball is considering Cal Poly forward Hamad Mousa as a potential transfer. The Wolverines have already added three players through the transfer portal and six from the 2026 recruiting class.
Michigan basketball is retooling in a big way, which makes sense given the departures. The Wolverines have added three players via the transfer portal and six via the 2026 recruiting class, and yet, one more may be on the radar via the portal.
The maize and blue were eliminated from the Juke Harris sweepstakes, but there is an intriguing option still available, and one that could have a Yaxel Lendeborg-type impact if his game translates. Though it's no sure thing, and the interest is preliminary, Maize & Blue Review's Josh Henschke reports that the Wolverines are looking into Cal Poly forward Hamad Mousa. (subscription required)
Sources both in Ann Arbor and nationally have informed M&BR that Cal Poly forward Hamad Mousa is a name that the U-M staff are currently monitoring.
Mousa started his career at Dayton in 2024 and transferred to Cal Poly the following season. He averaged 20.4 points per game, with 6.3 rebounds and two assists. He only had one game where he scored under 10 points all season in 28 appearances. Half of his games (14), he scored 20 or more points, and in four games, he scored 30-plus points.
At 6-foot-8, 200 pounds, Mousa has a similar body type to Lendeborg while also playing the same position. He didn't play much in the way of Power Four talent, however, though he did play against USC, scoring 14 points with five rebounds, UCLA, scoring 12 points with five rebounds; and Utah, against whom he managed 26 points.
As a transfer, Mousa is rated a four-star by Rivals as the No. 54 player available via the portal.
