Michigan's Rayshaun Benny drafted by Ravens, will reunite with former coaches

Michigan defensive tackle Rayshaun Benny is headed to the Baltimore Ravens, where he will reunite with some familiar faces on the defensive staff.

Benny was selected in the seventh round at No. 250 overall by the Ravens during the NFL Draft on Saturday. He was the third Day-3 pick from Michigan, joining linebacker Jimmy Rolder, who was selected in the fourth round by Detroit, and fullback Max Bredeson, who was drafted in the fifth round by Minnesota.

Michigan did not have a first-round draft selection for the first time since 2018 but had three players picked on Day 2. Edge Derrick Moore was the first Michigan player taken in the draft, selected No. 44 overall by Detroit. Tight end Marlin Klein went late in the second round at No. 59 to Houston. Edge Jaishawn Barham was selected in the third round by Dallas with the 92nd overall pick Friday night.

Benny, who had 35 tackles and 1½ sacks last season, will reunite with former Michigan defensive line coach Lou Esposito, who joined the Ravens’ staff earlier this year, and Baltimore head coach Jesse Minter, who had been Michigan’s defensive coordinator.
