The Michigan womenâs basketball program, in conjunction with Connecticut, announced a home-and-home series with the Huskies over the next two seasons.
The Wolverines will host UConn at Crisler Center on Nov. 5, 2026, and will play in Connecticut in the 2027-28 season. It will mark the Huskiesâ first game ever in the state of Michigan, and the second matchup between the programs.
Earlier this year, Michigan faced UConn in Uncasville, Conn. in a 72-69 Huskies win at the Basketball Hall of Fame Womenâs Showcase, marking the first contest between the teams. It marked UConnâs only single-digit victory of its undefeated regular season. The contest ended with All-American Azzi Fudd and All-Big Ten first-teamer Syla Swords trading three-pointers in the final seconds, with the Wolverines nearly capping off an improbable comeback.
The game at 1,208,000 viewers on FOX, averaging 967,000 viewers (44 percent higher than the 2024-25 seasonâs womenâs college basketball regular-season average on the network).
The Wolverines finished their season by making their second ever Elite Eight, while UConn finished in the Final Four. Michigan concluded the season with a 28-7 record, No. 7 by the AP (best finish in program history), while the Huskies finished 38-1 and ranked No. 3.
Looking ahead at the Wolverinesâ schedule, the marquee matchup with UConn could be the biggest game in Crisler Center history. It certainly has a case for the highest-profile non-conference home matchup in program history. Michigan went 17-1 at home last season, falling only to eventual National Champion , while hosting the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament and advancing to the Sweet 16 on its home court.
The Wolverines return four starters from the Elite Eight team in guards (18.9 points per game), Syla Swords (14.6), (12.3), TeâYala Delfosse (8.7), and forward Ashley Sofilkanich (7.7). Olson and Swords were named to the All-Big Ten first team, with Olson earned third-team AP All-American honors.
While the Huskies graduated No. 1 overall WNBA draft pick , they retain forward , the reigning who averaged an efficient 18.4 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists on 58.2 percent shooting from the field and 40.4 percent from three.
With both teams reloading in the offseason via top recruits and the transfer portal, this is a game to circle on Michiganâs schedule.
