Middle Tennessee Christian has hired a girls basketball coach, naming former Nashville Christian assistant Kobe Davis to take over the Lady Cougars.
Davis spent the past three years as a girls assistant at NCS. He was a boys assistant for a year before that.
"I am incredibly honored and grateful for the opportunity to lead this program," Davis said in a school release on May 12. "I look forward to building strong relationships with our players, helping them grow both on and off the court, and building a program that our school and MTCS community can be proud of. We want this program to be grounded in faith, character, and purpose, using basketball as a way to positively impact the lives of our players and those around us."
Davis replaces Shala Ferrell, who spent just one season at MTCS before resigning in April, but led the Lady Cougars to a 26-6 record, district championship and region runner-up finish.
Davis played high school basketball in Bloomington, Indiana, graduating in 2019. He played college basketball at Harding University.
While at Nashville Christian, Davis served as the middle school golf, baseball, and volleyball coach, as well as the middle school girls basketball assistant coach.

“We are excited to welcome Kobe Davis to the MTCS community as our new girls basketball coach," MTCS athletic director Jason Piercey said. "His passion for the game, commitment to excellence, and dedication to developing student-athletes both on and off the court will strengthen our program and help prepare our athletes for success in every area of life.”
Davis helped Nashville Christian to a 19-13 record and DII-A state round of 12 berth in 2025-26.
Davis is MTCS' third girls coach in three years. Ferrell replaced Hannah Jones who resigned following the 2024-25 season and is now at Stewarts Creek.
