How De Zerbi has finally got Spurs looking upwards again
Roberto De Zerbi's pragmatic approach is reviving Tottenham's fortunes as they escape relegation.
Mikah Peters, a senior at Brandon Valley, excelled at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays, winning both the 1,600 and 3,200 meter races. He also contributed to the Lynx's victory in the 1,600 meter sprint medley relay.
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Brandon Valley senior track star Mikah Peters established himself as one of the best distance runners in the state this weekend at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays.
Peters won the 1,600 and 3,200 meter races, setting a personal best in the 1,600. He was also a part of the Lynx 1,600 meter sprint medley relay win.
“Coming into today, I really wanted to make a statement,” Peters said. “So, I think that sweeping all three events is a way to make a statement and I think I think it’s pretty special.”
He finished second in the 3,200 meter and fourth in the 1,600 meter at the state meet last year but has surged into his own during this senior campaign that also included a win at state cross country.
“Micah does does everything right,” Brandon Valley head coach Tony Thoreson said. “He does the workouts. He does the rest. He’s doing the eating correctly. It all adds up, and he does it all to a tee as best he can. It’s been a lot of fun coaching him.”
“It’s all mindset,” Peters said. “Running’s got to be 80-85% mental. I think that once you really figure that out, you’re really going to bring yourself places. And I think this last year was me really trying to find myself.”
Peters’ success and impact have been felt throughout the Brandon Valley track program.
“I got a bunch of young boys mentored by Micah,” Thoreson said. “They’ve done so much over the course of the last two years running with him, and it’s just amazing to see how quickly their times are coming down and how confident they are in their racing. So it’s it’s been great to have him to show those younger guys the ropes.”
Peters will continue his racing career in college at Iowa State.
