The Miami Dolphins overhauled their coaching staff and front office this offseason, including firing head coach Mike McDaniel after four seasons with a 35-33 record and two playoff appearances.
While the Dolphins hired Jeff Hafley to lead the team, McDaniel joined Jim Harbaugh's staff with the Los Angeles Chargers as offensive coordinator. However, when he arrived in Los Angeles, McDaniel made it clear he wanted at least one player from the Dolphins to join him with the Chargers.
"It was Alec [Ingold]," Chargers general manager Joe Hortiz revealed during a recent press conference. "When Alec got released, [McDaniel] came down and planted a wanted poster right on the wall. As soon as he was released, boom, there it is. I'm like 'OK. OK. OK. We'll get him.'"
Ingold and McDaniel both spent the four years together in Miami, and during that time, the fullback rushed for 34 yards and two touchdowns and caught 47 passes for 372 yards and one score. He also made one Pro Bowl.
Hortiz said McDaniel also used the same tactic to get him to go after former Baltimore Ravens running back Keaton Mitchell. Hortiz believes McDaniel owes him the reward money for those wanted posters.
