Whether the Los Angeles Angels have enough in the tank to make a run at ending their MLB-worst postseason drought is still a complete mystery, but they have one key piece of the puzzle at the moment: a healthy and effective Mike Trout.
While Trout was up and down over the first two weeks of the season, he looked much like his old self against the New York Yankees in the Bronx this week, blasting five home runs in four days. With the hot streak, Trout became the first player to hit five home runs in a series against the Yankees, a 123-year-old organization, as a visiting player.
Trout walked out of Yankee Stadium on Thursday trailing only Aaron Judge and Jordan Walker with seven home runs on the season, a sign that he might be rounding back into form after years of injury-riddled campaigns.
Here's a look at how Trout's series against the Yankees made history.

Trout became the first visiting player to hit five home runs in a series against the Yankees, and he tied the record for most home runs in a series against the Yankees overall by becoming the first in 41 years to hit five.
Because he homered in his last game at Yankee Stadium in 2025, Trout became only the second player to hit a home run in five consecutive games at the ballpark, joining Aaron Judge. The stadium opened in 2008.
Trout hit a home run in each game during the series and made it a multi-home run affair on Monday, which turned into a marathon loss for the Angels.
With the season still only 20 games old for the Angels, Trout still has a long way to go to prove he can sustain anything close to his MVP form, but his hot start is a welcomed sight for Angels fans and baseball fans alike.
The Yankees trace their history all the way back to 1903, when they were still the New York Highlanders. Stars across several generations have faced the Yankees on the road since then, but only Trout can say he hit five home runs in one series in the Bronx.
| Seasons | Games | AVG | HR | RBI | Hits | OPS |

Injuries have robbed Trout of the chance to reach some of the gaudy milestones that appeared to be within reach earlier in his career, but he can still let his career numbers speak for themselves.
Trout remains a career .293 hitter with a tremendous .976 OPS. He inched his way to 400 home runs during a midseason slump in 2025 but has racked up seven already this season, putting the 500-home run milestone on the table in the years ahead.
Trout is 34 years old. He is set to turn 35 in August.
It doesn't feel like too long ago that Trout was one of baseball's brightest young talents, but 2026 marks his 16th MLB season and 14 years since he earned Rookie of the Year honors in 2012. Trout has played more than 82 games only twice since his last MVP campaign in 2019, but he made progress last year by appearing in 130 contests.
With some better injury luck, Trout is hoping his terrific start is something that can be sustained.
