Minor League Recap: Bazzana, homers, Rake County puts up 16 runs

RubberDucks improve to 9-5

Jake Fox had a sensational game to help lead Akron to victory on Saturday. Fox was perfect at the dish, going 2-for-2 with a triple, three walks and a stolen base.

Guy Lipscomb was almost as good, going 1-for-2 with three walks. Nick Mitchell walked twice and stole a base while Ralphy Velazquez went 1-for-4 with a double and a walk and Wuilfredo Antunez homered.

In the ninth inning, Fox’s triple scored Jose Devers and then Lipscomb walked it off with a game-winning bunt single.

Starting pitcher Dylan DeLucia allowed two runs on two hits with three walks and three strikeouts in 3.1 innings of work.

Carter Rustad chipped in 1.2 scoreless innings, although he allowed both inherited runners from DeLucia to score. Jack Jasiak earned the win with 2.0 scoreless innings to end the game, striking out four.

Lake County Captains 16, Fort Wayne Tincaps 9

Captains improve to 7-7

Saturday was a tremendous game for the college bats from Cleveland’s 2025 MLB Draft class as Lake County scored 16 runs on 16 hits and nine walks.

Clean-up hitter Aaron Walton led the way for the Captains, going 4-for-5 with a triple and a double and two stolen bases, just missing the cycle by a home run.

Jace LaViollette also had a monster game, going 3-for-5 with a walk to reach base four times.

Dean Curley went 1-for-3 with his first home run of the season and three walks, also scoring three runs.

Luke Hill also homered, going 1-for-3 with a walk and a sacrifice fly and Nolan Schubart also reached base safely four times, going 2-for-3 with two walks. Leadoff hitter Jaison Chourio went 2-for-6 and Ryan Cesarini went 2-for-4 with a walk.

Starting pitcher Rafe Schlesinger had a strange day, allowing six runs (one earned) on seven hits with six strikeouts and two walks as Fort Wayne scored eight of its nine runs in the third inning.

Cam Walty gave up another two runs, but submariner Cam Schuelke locked things down with two scoreless frames and a strikeout to close out the victory.

Hill City Howlers 3, Wilson Warbirds 1

Howlers improve to 9-5

Hill City got some tremendous pitching in this game, led by starting pitcher Harrison Bodendorf, going went 4.0 scoreless innings of two-hit ball with six strikeouts and three walks.

Ettore Giulianelli allowed one unearned run in 2.0 innings and Miguel Flores closed out the win with 3.0 insanely impressive scoreless innings, not allowing a hit while striking out a whopping seven batters and walking one.

Juneiker Caceres went 2-for-4 with a walk while Dauri Fernandez went 2-for-5. Jonathan Martinez went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk while Jose Pirela went 1-for-3 with a walk.

Luis De La Cruz also walked twice and stole two bases.
