All three Clippers runs in game 2 came in the top of the fifth. Dom Nuñez worked a 2-2 count then hit a lead off solo home run to right field. Maick Collado, with one out, bullied the pitcher with a solo home run of his own. Then, Kahlil Watson another solo home run off of the pitcher. All three home runs came off of the sweeper.
The RubberDucks had a great win over the Chesapeake Baysox. Khal Stephen went 5.1 innings in his start. He threw 83 pitches, allowed only 1 run on 6 hits and 2 walks. He struck out 4. Jay Driver got his second win of the season with Akron, throwing 1.2 innings of shut out, hitless baseball. Driver struck out 4 and didn’t allow a baserunner. Shawn Armstrong, on rehab assignment, threw the 8th inning, allowing 1 hit and striking out 1. Sean Matson closed out the game, striking out all 3 batters faced.

In the bottom of the sixth, Nick Mitchell drew a lead off walk. Christian Knapczyk hit a RBI triple on a fly ball to center. A throwing error by the shortstop allowed Knapczyk to score on a little league home run.

Franklin Gómez got the start for the LC Captains against the Dayton Dragons. He allowed 3R/2ER on 8 hits and 1 walk in 5.1 innings of work. The unearned run came in the bottom of the fourth inning. Forceout allowed the runner on first to advance to second on a throwing error by the shortstop. The runner, now in scoring position, scored on a RBI single. Xavier Martinez worked 1.2 innings, walking 2 and striking out 2 batters. Donovan Zsak got the win and the blown save, coming into the eighth inning. Zsak went 1.1 innings allowing 1 run, a solo home run, and striking out 3 batters. Chaos ensued in the bottom of the ninth. The Dragons manager and catcher were ejected at the start of the inning when the home plate umpire missed a hit by pitch. The pitcher, Donovan Zsak, struck out the batter and gloated to the Dragon’s dugout. After a benches clearing moment, Zsak was ejected and Luis Flores came in to replace him. Flores hit the only batter he faced and was promptly ejected as well. Logan McGuire finished the game without further fanfare with a flyout and strikeout to retire the Dragons.
In the top of the fourth Luke Hill hit a 2-run double to left scoring Dean Curley, who reached on a walk, and Ryan Cesarini, who reached on a force out.
In the top of the seventh, Jace LaViolette gave the Caps the lead with a single on a line driver to center. It scored Kevin Rivas who lead off the inning with a double.
In the top of the ninth, with the game tied, Bennett Thompson and Jeffrey Mercedes hit back-to-back singles. A forceout advanced both runners to scoring position. A hit by pitch loaded them up for LaViolette. With his second RBI hit of the night, LaViolette scored two with a double to center.
The Hill City Howlers fell to the Wilson Warbirds. Jacob Zibin went 5.0 innings of 1 run ball. He allowed 3 hits, 1 walk, and struck out 6 batters. Keegan Zinn pitched the remainder of the game, going 3.0IP/4H/3ER/2BB/3K. A throwing error in the bottom of the eighth allowed a runner to score on what should have been the final out of the inning to account for the unearned run.
The Howlers’ sole run came in the top of the fifth. Tyler Howard hit a one-out single. Howard went from first to third on Victor Izturis’ two-out single. Yaikel Mijares singled on a ground to second, scoring Howard. Izturis tried to got from first to third and was thrown out at third base for the final out of the inning.
