It was reported last year that schools would receive royalties based on how many times gamers chose to play as their program, and Missouri State has given us a glimpse of just how lucrative that agreement is.
Missouri State received more than $100,000 in royalties thanks to gamers choosing to play as their Bears.
“It’s all based off how much the public played as Missouri State,” Kelsey Tolbert said in a Missouri State Board of Governors meeting. Tolbert is Missouri State's associate director of athletics for external relations. "We got our numbers back a couple weeks ago, and we ranked 69th out of 136 schools and second among Conference USA peers. It ultimately equated to over $100,000 back to us in royalty payments.”
If the 69th-ranked program in College Football 26 usage received over $100,000, it's going to be fascinating to see how much money schools in the top 25 in game usage made out if that information is released to the public.
