The San Antonio Spurs lost Game 2 to the Portland Trail Blazers after collapsing in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, they had to play a big chunk of the game without Victor Wembanyama, who suffered a concussion after hitting his head on the floor.
Now, head coach Mitch Johnson has confirmed that he will be in the concussion protocol. Now, he is on track to be in the protocol for the next two days, but it will be a tight squeeze if he wants to play in Game 3 in Portland.
Jrue Holiday was called for a foul on that play, but most people would agree it was a bit too reckless for Wembanyama to pull off. Unfortunately, he has to pay for it by being on the protocol for the next two days.
It is also a scary result for the Spurs because Wembanyama looked clearly shaken after his fall. Now, he has to rest because the Spurs need him to be a star player, and not just sit on the sidelines.

The Blazers have momentum heading into their two home games. If Wembanyama cannot return in Game 3, it will be tough for the Spurs to take back control of the series because the Blazers will run away with every chance they get to get the momentum.

Now, Wembanyama cannot return to full participation for 48 hours, but he can resume gradual activity in 24 hours as long as the symptoms do not worsen. He will require the team doctor's clearance and the NBA's protocol director's all-clear as well.
